I've been looking all over but have only seen a lot of people having issues with pinched o-rings and/or low oil pressure.
My F body pan setup arrived for my L92 and I'm ready to swap them over but would like to know what the correct way to do so to avoid some of these problems is.
Shooting for 1/4 between pickup and pan and flush at the rear of the oil pan to the block. I am planning on using clay to set the clearance slightly less then 1/4 with no gasket.
If you have any advice or know of a sticky about this I'd appreciate the help.
thanks

Maybe because this statement is as clear as mud. This is assuming that the engine is removed.
The oil pressure issue is the pickup tube to oil pump O-ring. Just make sure you install it on the tube correctly, push firmly into pump while aligning tube bracket to block mount. Position front retaining strap to block, install bolt and torque to specs. Install nut to stud on tube bracket.
Aligning the pan to the front and rear covers is the other topic I am guessing.
You need to center the front and rear seals along with the bottom of the covers to the block.
Install the rear cover, leave bolts loose.
Install front cover, leave bolts loose.
Install dampener so the dampener helps center the seal in front cover.
Using a straight edge, position front and covers so the bottom edges are flush with block surface. Torque bolts to specifications.
Install oil pan, torque bolts to specifications.

Let me clarify a tad as that does seem a little confusing:
trying to confirm that the clearance between pickup screen and pan bottom is ok at @1/4 inch.
like to know what methods you guys use to insure no o-ring pinch happens.
I understand alignment of pan is important as it is a structural part.
I hope resulting discussion/information could be stickied somewhere as I could not find any.
thanks
