Default Headers ?

trying to find out whether there is a benefit in going from ARH 1 7/8 to a Kooks 2 inch. I care about the 5-7k rpm. what about the stepped one as well?

The car is a C6Z06, 600 rwhp 440 LS7.

You might pick up a little bit. If the extra $$$ isnt a problem go for it.

I have stepped headers and my 440 is also at 600rwhp. What makes you think the exhaust is holding you back? FI cars use the same headers to expel more exhaust and make higher power. I believe the restriction is the intake or somewhere forward of it. If you swap let us know how it works.

I agree the intake is the restriction. when you are at 600 rwhp, every hp becomes difficult to get. Some tuners swear by the kooks over the ARHs. And i think something like the stepped is worth few more ponies, nothing to write home about but a 5 here and another from a bigger TB and possible UD pulley and I will be around the 615-620. It is extra money but i am sure I wont have problem selling off what i have now. Also, there is a new Electrical water pump made for road racing applications, there might be few more.
Btw, how do the stepped fit? do you have pix of the headers?

I was told to get the 2" headers for my 408. The shorter the primary the bigger it needs to be. These cars are so compact the header tube has to make an immediate turn off the flange which makes it nescessary for the bigger primary right off the bat.

Mine were installed with the 440, so I can't say how much hassle it was, but they don't rub on anything. I don't have pics of them.
A motor identical to mine without stepped headers and smaller TFS 235's made 608 on a different day. I have an EWP as well.
After installing 3.73 gears I dynoed 590. Going from a ported fast 90mm to the new 102mm took me back to 600. We'll see if I pick up anymore with a 102mm TB. If so I might try a bigger maf.
5 hp wouldn't mean anything to me as you can get that difference on back to back dyno pulls.
I don't mean to sound negative and I'm certainly not trying to talk you out of it. I want you to find more so the rest of us can follow. I'm just trying to show you what I tried so you might try something different/better.
