You mean that the top sprocket will not line up with the bottom sprocket on the crankshaft? It would have nothing to do with the chain itself really, it would be either the cam tunnel/camshaft or the crank. Let me know what you find out.

Is it a double roller chain set or single? How old is your LSx block?

The "1st generation" LSx blocks had issues with the double roller sets and the bolts they supplied with the cam retainer plate interfering. On the new generation LSx blocks that issue was corrected with a different style bolt being supplied.

The original blocks did have some very interesting issues. If you can somehow get a picture of what you are talking about, I am sure we can figure something out.

we put a stock timing set on it tonight and it works great. the cam sprocket on the new one must not be centered correctly. so hopefully scoggin dickies will get me a new one. i am ready to get this little motor done. tired of it allready

charged: Were you trying to run a double roller when you had the clearance issues, or was it a single?

They were using a single row chain from our LS2 conversion kit. It seems they had some problem with it allowing improper tension on the chain in between revolutions of the crank/cam gear.

We are getting it taken care of!
