Im doing a ls2 intake on my 08 sierra, can someone run down the vacuum ports with me. I haven't removed the truck intake yet but I know there is one on each side of the throttle body intake and two on the back in reference to the ls2. I can see that the brake booster vacuum line on my truck goes to the back which I assume will go to the big one on the back of the ls2 intake. The big one on the pass. side of the ls2 intake I think goes to my new non DOD valley cover, that leaves two.
Thanks

sic7, i have a holley 90mm cable TB on my setup. I can't comment if it works on the VVT setup though (though I don't see why not, with the relative frequency with which people are doing DBW-to-cable TBs).

LS3s from an LS3/LS7 corvette are 42 lb. @ 58 psi. I assume they're the same for the Camaro

Has anyone confirmed if the new style LY6 bolt down MAP is the same as the older clip down MAP? Meaning is it plug and play no tuning req'd etc? Or even the LS3 MAP is it simply a plug and play deal or not? Im doing an 07 L92 escalade engine swap for the record.

hey guys, quick question.

in post #2 cam said that you need different bolts for the car intake. which bolts do you need? i assume they would be the ones that match whatever intake you got? (ie ls3 intake, bolts from an ls3 motor)

anyone have a rough idea of the cost of the bolts?

i have a 2010 ly6. i am trying to put a ls3 style intake on.

thanks for the help.

What belt do you use with this setup? Will the stock one work?

I just got done relocating my idler pulley on my 2005 Silverado with the 5.3 engine using the Misumi USA (www.misumiusa.com) spacer, PN KNCLM10-30-20, and bolt is PN CB10-160.

I used a 103 inch belt (Gates K061031 or 6PK2618) which is 10 inches longer than the stock 93 inch belt (Gates K060930 or 6PK2363).

On my truck, the relocated idler pulley sits between a 1/16 and a 1/8 of an inch inboard using the above spacer. Now the belt rides closer to the front of the pulley instead of the back of the pulley. It works fine, so far. I may add an additional washer to push the pulley forward a little.

I wanted to do this mod so I can clean up my engine bay a little better. This mod will allow me to run a 2010 L99 / LS3 camaro water pump and adjustable adler pulley. This will enable me to shorten my radiator hose and keep it from running from the driver's side radiator inlet to the passenger side water pump outlet. After doing the radiator hose mod, I can put in a custom intake pipe, from the throttle body to stock intake box, with out having to run it over the radiator hose.

malibudave, thanks for the post. I came up with the Misumi spacer dimensions based on my bracket, but because the new location of the idler is against a cast surface, there will likely be some variability in the required spacer size from bracket to bracket. With Misumi you can order different length spacers; just change the end of the part number and they'll make you what you need: KNCLM10-30-20 is 20mm length, KNCLM10-30-25 would be 25mm length. The 10 corresponds to ID and the 30 corrresponds to OD.

Bandit, Should of measured, but I didn't think the variance would be that large. It has worked fine for me over the past two weeks with no problems. Now I just have to order my Camaro water pump, adjustable idler pully, trim my alternator bracket, and modify/find a radiator hose that will fit and I should be good to make my own intake system.

Misumi customer service was pretty good for just the 2 parts I bought. They would follow up with me on my purchase and asked if I had any questions about their catalog or how to order products. I was pretty impressed.

Sorry to be the random lurker bumping a 2 year old thread, but there's some things I'm unsure of that I can't find answers to.

I have a 2008 LY6 on the way, and a brand new complete LS3 intake on my shelf from a 2011 Camaro.

Has anyone mounted a car intake backwards on a Gen IV truck engine? Mine is going in a tube chassis rock racing buggy, and the intake will probably have to be mounted backwards for packaging reasons in front of the engine (dual pass trans and steering coolers, winch, ect) and to keep the incoming air out of the mud. Is there any interference with the intake and the oil pressure sending unit? I will be using an autometer sending unit in the accumulator adapter above the oil filter, so I won't need the factory boss.

Also, on my intake there are two nipples on the bottom behind the throttle body flange, are they water passages for a pre-heating system, or are they vacuum nipples that need to be capped?

The injector connections are the same as on my '07 LY6 and the LY6 throttle body bolted right up. I think I may have to shave a little off the waterpump near the outlet, but it shoudn't be too bad.
Hey, I know is a old post, but I'm doing the same thing, 07 escalade motor going into a 63 cady, truck intake is just not cutting it for me, I notice that you comment that your Ls3 intake came from a 2010camaro, this is my question, does it have to be 2010 or up camaro intake? Thanks!!!

Hey Guy's,

Just wondering, I have purchase a Truck manifold from an 07 Yukon as I had been told the truck manifold was good for making torque, and my ls is in a 4wd. But reading this thread it would appear that you guys are going the other way.

Why are you doing this? Have I done the wrong thing?

Thanks

Default Ls3 intake

Has anyone had problems with an LS3 intake screws lining up with a 08 LY6 motor? They are rectangle heads and everything having problems with the angle of the screws.
