this IS a leak by holley, or at the very least one of their interns...
like pretty much everyone else, i was suspicious due to the op having one post etc...
let me walk yall through how i figured this out...
i right clicked the photos in the OPs post, which gave me the link to where the image was hosted.
it is "http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh232/stockbee/IMG_2723-1.jpg"
which means it is a photobucket account, and the username of the account holder is "stockbee"
then i googled "photobucket stockbee"
one of the top search results was
"http://forums.nicoclub.com/ky-auto-95-s14-se-non-vlsd-complete-part-out-t433664.html"
which was a post with photos contained in the above photobucket account.
the post was for a part out of a nissan, and in it was a contact email address/phone number for the poster (and by extension the "stockbee" photobucket account holder)
the email was "eric.burnett1@wku.edu"
when i googled that email...
one of the top links was "http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=21600933768"
which was a facebook group made by the OP/Email account holder/nicoclub poster/photobucket account holder"
then i clicked on the persons facebook, and one of the links on it was to the person's blog...
http://www.blaneburnett.tumblr.com
guess what the latest post on that blog was...
"A new door has opened…..
Hey all,
I’m happy to report I received a tour of Holley Performance Parts yesterday and during the tour I was able to get a bird’s eye view of my desk! That’s right, on Monday I’ll be starting a Marketing Internship for the company..."
so there you go.

nice try, better luck next time.

Yeah I saw this on Jalopnik too, I agree with what most of the posters over there say.. Holley creates lame attempt at viral marketing, then Holley (Sherlock) conveniently exposes its attempt for more attention.
Maybe they should have just focused on the street warrior instead of dumb crap like this?

Well I don't think Sherlock is posting from Kentucky.
Seems to me that if there were to have been more subterfuge, it's possible that someone, let's just say with a lot of posts, like 39,670 of them, would have already pointed out to some folks that a one-post wonder raise some eyebrows, and that the pictures were too nice but just wanted to have a little fun anyway.

Hello Sherlock, Ben @ Jalopnik, and the entire LS1 tech community,
I am Blane Burnett, THE marketing guy at Holley (plug) that you all seem to have mixed feelings toward at the moment. Congratulations for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take a look at my Photobucket account (if you need any 240sx parts, just give me a shout).
Nonetheless, an explanation is in order. Just before the Holley LS Fest (plug), a few of us decided to create a bit of hype for some of the new products we were going to be showcasing at the event (plug, plug). In that particular meeting, the whole iPhone 4 scandal was mentioned and we laughed and thought about how it, in more ways than one, created quite a bit of buzz for the product (not that it needed any more).
From there the idea snowballed into a joke about going to a local business, taking some of our larger prototypes in there and taking some shots. Several things were done to tip off those who sniffed a rat. The shots were taken with an SLR, as opposed to a cell phone, and the blurred faces were only meant to prolong the interest.
After looking at the first two pages of responses on this forum, it seemed the thread was being taken the right way. We apologize for not coming out with the farce any earlier, but we got really busy with LS Fest (shameless LS Fest plug again). We hope you guys got more of a laugh out of the post than anything else (we sure have) and that you’re excited we have some new intakes coming out.
Interestingly enough, we found further pictures of our LS products from other people who attended LS Fest within this very same thread (gotta love that viral stuff).
Now for the guy that did the detective work…I would offer you some free Holley brand parts for your fine work, but at this point I am not sure how that would be taken. Would that be seen as a buy off or a genuine gesture? I am so confused. Other than telling Holley engineers to hurry up with these intakes, please let me know what I should do to make this right within the LS community.
Cordially yours and a paying advertiser on LS1-Tech forever,

P.S., Earlier this morning I was called to a meeting with our President where I found out, as punishment for my supposed misdeeds, my company car has been downgraded from a Corvette to a Prius. Just kidding….or am I?

Blane, good on ya for coming clean. I think some specs / dimensions would be great for most guys. Also, actually coming out with the product would be pretty bad ***. Kicking in a free hat for everyone who posts to the end of page 3 on this thread would be pretty wicked too.
