6.0 truck engine into 98 Camaro

Default 6.0 truck engine into 98 Camaro

I found a very nice roller that was an auto and a 6.0 2007 chevy engine. I would like to convert to manual trans but auto is fine. What do i need and would you reccomend the swap? I have 6,000$ now can get car and engine for around 2,000 car in excellent condition an engine comes with harness, computir and all accessories. Thanks guys

Man, youre gonna have to do some searching for this stuff. I got flamed on here once for asking a similar question haha. Just search for it in here and you will find all sorts of good info. Good luck.

why not just swap the long block?

were you planning on swapping the whole setup in there?

for the auto to manual swap, check the transmission forums there is a guide stickied at the top of what you need.

for the 6.0 engine you need to know how many teeth are on the crank reluctor(sp?) since I don't think it will work correctly with the 98 pcm. I don't know if you can use the '07 pcm b/c there is some issue with the fuel gauge and newer pcm's with the 98's (check the tuning forum, there was some info about this a little while back)

recommended for swap I would say arp rod bolts and new oil pump at the minimum.

i swapped a LY6 6.0L truck motor with L92 heads and VVT into my 94 Formula... the whole thing ended up costing about $8k that's including the t56 swap and c5 front brake upgrade but i also had a bunch of aftermarket parts from my last build (wheels, suspension stuff, headers, true duals, shock tower brace). 6k could get it done nicely... I'm partial to vvt just because it's an incredible technology for road racing and general daily driving...
