LS6 intake VS LS3
LS6 intake VS LS3 I want to change my TBSS motor intake to a car intake setup. I have been looking for a Ls6 intake but in the pics they look like a rect port setup instead of the cathedral port. If they are rect port and people are putting them on LS2's then why will a LS3 intake not work on an LS2?
BTW I am installing a TBSS LS2 into my 69 chevelle which is why I want to change to the car setup.

They are cathedral ports on teh LS6, they are more rectanglar looking then the LS1 for some reason.
A LS3 is square, and will not work on cathedral ports. Ppl switch over to the LS2 because of the bigger throttle body.

Ya get the ls6 although you will have to figure out what to do about the TB because its smaller on the ls6 but the ls6 manifold consistantly shows gains in power over the ls2.

LS4, I would imagine it would have the rectangle style intake ports but I'm not sure.

Any good info would be much appreciated!!!
I would like to at least upgrade the cam and intake, but every time I start thinking about it I end up down the path of having to replace the pulley system, etc, etc, etc... which I don't want to get into until the car is back on the road after a full tear down.

Nice looking ride! How did the TBSS install go? I am in the process of doing the same... TBSS LS2 into a '63 Nova. I will eventually go with L92 heads, FAST intake, etc... but will probably run the stock TBSS setup for now. Any tips or tricks? Did you run the stock Cam, Headers, intake, etc? What kind of HP/TQ did you get to with your setup?

Without digging to much into this or hijacking this thread im also putting a TBSS motor in a classic car and need to switch to a car intake. My question is which one do I need, LS2 or LS3? I am not changing heads just need to swap intakes.
Also which throttle body will I be able to use?

I have read the thread as well as about 20 others and they are all conflicting and confusing. There are people talking about ls3 intakes which flow better but from best i can tell you would need to change heads for these to work. I am just looking for a bottom line answer to my question which what im understand is that with a TBSS motor with stock heads I will need an ls2 intake manifold, injectors and rails.

Intake I just completed the swap into a 69 chevelle. You will need LS2 intake, F body or corvette accessories if you are changing them, F body or corvette water pump and you can use the truck TB if you want to. I bought a complete intake, rails, injectors, and TB for 400. I believe you can use the truck water pump if you use the truck TB and you can use the truck accessories if you relocate the idler pulley for the PS pump. The stock wiring harness is funky if you use it due to it going over the top of the tall truck intake. I completely reworked mine standalone and tucked it all. Also the EGR is slightly different as you cap the hole in the drivers side valve cover and use the line coming out of the valley cover instead which is plugged from the factory on the trucks. The PCV system is under the valley cover so you dont need a PCV valve either. You use the pipe on the passenger side valve cover for filtered fresh air inlet.
Nice chevelle swap. I've got an ls2 in my 70 chevelle with a magna charger. This tbss motor I'm going to be using is going to get an aftermarket serpentine kit so im not worried about the accessories.
I just found the tall edelbrock intake manifolds, might look at one of them if there is hood clearance in my caddy project.
