balancer seating how do you lock up a manual flywheel with the engine in the car. trying to seat a new balancer on an ls3 but cant get the crank to stop turning.

Another cheap way... Pull #1 spark plug, rotate the engine to the compression stroke, stuff some rope into the plug hole, gently rotate the engine (by hand!) until it stops. Do your work. Now, back the engine up a 1/4 turn, pull the rope, reinstall the plug and have at it.
