Default SLP lid fitment issues

I have a 2002 Trans Am and am trying to install an SLP lid on the car. Has anybody else had issues with the lid fitting onto the MAF? I even tried to file down the inside of the lid. Is this normal? What have you done to get yours to fit?

Well first off you posted in the wrong section....

But yea, they can be a pain in the *** to get into the lid, it honestly just takes some patience and working in.

Guess depends on what size maf you are using. That's why I am speed density tune so dont have to worry about having one and just one tube from lid to tb.

and I thought I was the only one...
I have bought two in my time and the first one fit like a dream, no problem at all, slid right on. Second one was a HUGE PITA! what should have taken 15 minutes took like over an hour to do, I was so mad about it only because the first one fit so good. I had to file it down around the inside edge some and then I did what others have; heat gun and some patience. Once it was nice and warm, I had to force it on the maf and then I spun it around to get a nice even new opening. Be careful not to ruin your maf, they are touchy and those thin wires dont take much to destroy. I dont think its coming off anytime soon and thankfully it all can be taken off as one piece (maf, lid). Good luck xtreme..

I found the best way is to put the MAFS on a hard flat surface and just slowly work the lid down onto it.

always had the issue with my SLP Lid. I ended up going with a FAST TOYs lid and had no problem since.
