still in the works (installed crossovers, but haven't plumbed the rear crossover to the front yet), but used 12605716 for the rear crossover (07+ L92), but should get some more photos of the car this week as I get some more work done on the swap

I used a front l92 crossover on the rear, and an ls3 on the front. I then ran a hose to a brass tee, and into radiator. It's been working great for a year now.

Got a part number for the front LS3 crossover tube, and the L92 crossover?

Thanks!

Sorry no part number. It came off an l92 crate engine I parted out. The ls3 x-over I acquired off ebay.

Is the rubber center section of the LS3 crossover a functional hose, or just a cover over the metal tube?

Thanks!

It's just a cover over the metal hose. I'm guessing so the intake won't rest on metal, but not sure.

So these pre plugged heads from the factory must be side specific hey?? One must be meant for the left side and one meant for the right. Something to watch out for if you take your heads off or whatever.

How about drilling and tapping the rears for a 1/8npt 90* compression fitting? That's what i plan on doing to mine and then t'ing that line into the front crossover

that works as well.
I did that on a 56 chevy for a friend.. I (well, he, at my suggestion) then milled his valley cover to fit a semi flattened tube down it, so it remained hidden as well.
we also did the front a little custom, but not blingy, so it looked OEM, and made it go into the waterpump. (drilled and tapped that as well)

came out very clean.

its not my car, so I cant just go take pics.. if im not mistaken, the car is for sale in Charlotte, NC now.

the area is where the upper radiator hose goes.

i just did a quick search and found some pics of someone else doing it:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...crossover.html

do NOT do it like that guy did.. the throttlebody cam will hit it.
instead, take the waterpump off the engine, and drill the BACK side of that upper boss. then tap it for whatever fitting you want to use.

If the factory stopped using the rear crossover, what is the benefit to using it on heads with the capability vs. just blocking them off?

2 reasons
1. if your conversion tilts the motor at all so that the front of the engine is no longer the high point, you may need rear vents for air pocket protection.
2. if you have a max effort motor and want closer combustion chamber temps across the engine.

thats all i can think of.
really when we did it on his car, it was because of air pocket worries. the engine wasnt tilted higher in the front at all....

I've read that blocking the rear steam tubes can lead to #7 cylinder failure. Anyone have any input on that?

could, and will are two separate words.

notice all trucks have the rears blocked... but the early LS1 cars use all 4.

do I think it causes uneven cylinder temps? yes.
do I think the temps are uneven enough to cause an issue on a normal street car? no. On a really HO engine build? maybe.
do I consider myself an expert on the subject.. no.
