I have a freshly built 406 stroker. I'm running a ported Ls6 oi Pump as well. I started the car for the first time last night and oil gauge reads 50 psi at idle and 75 when I give it some gas. Today I take it for the first drive and oil pressure drops to 35 psi at idle and 50 psi at driving. 10W30 oil is in. Does this sound low or is this normal.

 

I would not be too woried if it is a alum block

Mine goes from 70 cold idle to 30 hot idle. 60 hot cruse and 90 WOT 7000 rpm

I was always told you need 10lbs per 1000 rpm. Is this accurate?

 

The oil pressure in most engines should be about 10 psi per 1000 rpm, peaking around 55-65 psi.

 

my 540 merlin blocked camaro idles 80psi cold, 35-45 at operating temp. as long as it's consistent, you should be ok.
