If it looks like this it's an L92 water pump. I think most post 07 trucks use it too.

Does the short block with the "differant" water pump also have a "thick" timing cover? If so, its probably a VVT LY6 6.0 out of a 2007 and up truck. They originally came with rectangular port 823 heads or similar. Hope this helps, Eric L

317 heads were on LQ9s, I didn't think they put them on LQ4s.

checked pistons with my scope. there're dished. it's a LQ4. thanks for all the help. I've been looking on here for threads on how to identify your engine by casting #'s, but can't find any. are there any?

Speaking of water pumps. I want a short water pump for my LS conversion. What is the shortest? I know the water pump on my 2006 CTSV is pretty short. New Camaro is about 1 1/2" longer. Any others shorter?

Corvette is the shortest, might be the same as the CTS-V.
New camaro are the same as truck spacing to clear the L99 VVT timing cover.

Thanks, that confirms what I thought. The Camaro outlet is on the left which I thought was perfect then I found it was same length as the truck. Looks like I'll have to deal with the right outlet.
