I have run the MSD coils, mainly because I had a coil pack go bad while at the LSx event in the midwest (1,000 miles from home). The only thing I could buy were some MSDs at one of the vendors on the midway. So, I picked em up and ran with em: Made it to #4 in the LSx rumble on them.

They worked okay, but I've since gone back to LS7 Coil packs, keeping the MSDs as hot spares if needed at some event. For "bling", I have coil pack covers that go over the stock coil packs that match the valve covers. Here's a pic of the "bling" - http://efiracing.com/pix/eng030613.jpg

I did find that MSD sells a harness for their coil packs that doesn't get a lot of mention. It appears to provide direct voltage to the coils, relying less on the stock harness. They sell that harness at Summit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-88867 -- You would need two of them; one for each bank.

MSD has a PDF file / instructions about the harness (LS Coil Harness, Part No. 88867 ), off their page at: http://www.msdignition.com/product.a...70&terms=88867

"This harness has been made by MSD to correct a check engine light issue that can arise in vehicles using the MSD LS Coil Packs on their engines. This harness will supply additional battery voltage to the coils in order to fire the coils properly and not drain other engine systems of power. This is necessary do to the varying wire gauges used on production vehicles."

I've read more negatives than positives on the MSDs and wonder if the harness might fix some of the problems mentioned - I never tested it since I changed back to OEM coil packs, shortly after getting home from the LSx event.
