Default LS1 vs Truck 5.7L

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and joined mainly because of this question. I am trying to figure out the difference in an LS1 and the 5.7L used in the 3/4 ton trucks. Is the only difference iron vs aluminum block, heads, compression?

I'm looking for a donor for my Jeep and really liked the LS1 with 6 speed I had in my 98 camaro. I know this is by no means an apples to apples comparison, but the torque was amazing. Miss the car but not the tickets.

Any help is appreciated.

the truck 5.7 was a different block/heads/intake. if ur refering to the 5.7 with the spider injectors. that was the only 5.7 used in a truck. you might be thinking of the 4.8/5.3. those were put in the trucks in 1999.

Was the difference in the block the material, was it different bore/strokes? I am not sure if I am talking about spider injectors or not. I dont think its a 4.8/5.3 though. I think the only gas options for the 2500/3500 were 5.7 in 98 and 6.0L and 99+. I have looked but cant much on specifics. Was hoping you guys would be able to help.

5.7 LS series motor was never placed in the trucks. The older (98 as you mentione) are SBC based.
