Here is one I built in my garage for my boat. Has a intercooler integrated inside. It uses fresh lake water to cool along with Water Meth. It works great with forced induction and also works very well NA as well. It's definitely not a Marcella or the likes. Just wanted my own deal for fun.

What about these runners? It looks like ProComp/Speedmaster updated the intake runners and they do look better.

didnt one of the vendors or shops that post on here buy a 800 dollar intake , cut the top off to fix the slag and crap and then weld it back up and only had like 1400 into it . Much less than the other fabbed intakes.

That new intake looks better, but remember, with very short runners like that, it's going to push your power band considerably higher in the rpm range, we're talking from mid 5000rpm peak torque, to almost 7000rpm for peak. Sounds great, except you need to have a cam that works with that, as well as the valvetrain that can support that, ie light valves, strong pushrods, etc etc.

I agree. Just saying it looks like they did improve it somewhat. Maybe for a centri or turbo application with a bigger cam or maybe road course.

There's a dyno of one vs a stock LS3 intake around here somewhere. Might've even been on a stroker, and it had a big cam. EBay intake made a few more peak hp, but lost TONS of power and torque below 6200 RPM. Slowed it down quite a bit.

I think this is what you're talking about. It was an n/a motor though and the cam wasn't that big. They said a bigger cube motor or a bigger cam would benefit from it more. I would only use an intake like that on a forced induction setup.

Thanks. The throttle body bolts right to it. I made a nice adapter plate that seals it off after you slide it into place. No vacuum leak or boost leak. Pretty slick actually. The runners are from Ross Machine for LS3. Cut to 5.5" length and I tapered them by adding a wedge that is welded in. It morphed a bit after this picture as far as refined inlet/outlet to avoid throttle body linkage. I put a divider at 9 oclock and 3 oclock. water in through the bottom 10 tubes, returned to lake after exiting through the top ten tubes.

There's more than enough info out there about these now. Tons of dyno tests have been done to show that in most circumstances, they just aren't worth the effort. That even includes with boost.

He did quite a few tests NA and turbo I think and the Sniper style intakes did nothing over a stock intake until over 6500rpm.
