317 heads,Valve replacment 2.02 1.60

Default 317 heads,Valve replacment 2.02 1.60

I have a set of 317 heads i am using for my turbo build, 4 of the exhaust valves need replaced on one head,The tips are all wore out,Can Have my machine shop install 2.02 1.60 valves in both heads without having seats changed?

The seats are designed to work with that valve so you're gonna have to have that re done.

Not tryin to be an *** but I'd just take the heads to a machine shop and they will tell you what exactly has to be done to the heads for the mods you're wanting and how much it'll cost. They should be your prime source of info since they will be working on them.

The charge more to buy the parts thru the machine shop than if I buy them myself and have them just do the machine work

2.02"/1.60" valves will work with the stock seats. I can't remember the exhaust seat OD, but I know the intake seat OD is right at 2.02" so that's pretty much the max before you need to swap out the seats.

Of course, to take advantage of the larger valves, you want to have the valvejob done by a good machine shop. $200 is pretty normal price to have the work performed.

Thanks for the answer, the machine shop I use can do all the work I just wanted to get the stuff ordered now so I can drop the heads off and say here's the valves , springs and seals do your thing.
