Default Lq9 and Ls3 heads what intake?

I'm starting a vortec/Ls budget build. And I need help choosing a intake. I done some research on the fast 102mm intake and it sound OK. My problem is the PRICE!!!! It's like 1400.00 for intake, throttle body, fuel rails, and injectors and that will only get me a 14 hp gain. Is that really worth it? Or is their a different alternative? I have a complete lq9 and ls3 heads. Also will the stock lq9 injectors, throttle body, fuel rails match the fast intake?

If you have the room I would fit the Holley Hi-Ram, otherwise save your money and use the factory manifold.

I don't have the room. stock hood on a 86 Monte Carlo s.s. I didn't think the lq9 intake would bolt up to the ls3 heads.

I'm doing a similar build as yours... LQ9 with a L92 heads for my 00 z28. Is hood clearence a issue with your car? I'm going with a LS3 intake off of eBay for roughly around 200 bucks which is way cheaper and it can accept a 90-92mm throttle body.

Will the stock lq9 injectors, throttle body, fuel rails match the fast intake? If so the fast intake maybe doable because I won't have to buy those parts.

Just run the LS3 intake and save the money on the fast. I can think of a lot of things I'd rather do with $1000+ than spend it on an intake that MIGHT get you 14hp.

^^^ I agree with armyboy all the way. 1000 bucks plus for 14hp is just not worth the money unless you getting a major deal on the intake. Good luck.

I'm still doing research on fast intakes and I was told by a engine builder that fast intakes can't handle turbos. Is that true? If so why?

The 92mm intake did but the 90mm and 102mm will be fine with boost. If it were a max effort setup then I'd be looking into a single plane or a Holley hi ram, pro flo etc.

Here is a better way to spend that money and just run the ls3 intake etc. These heads are oem but modified to fit the older ls1, 2, ls6, 6.0 blocks etc

SDP has complete intakes with TB, rails, and injectors for good prices, x 10 on using a factory LS3 piece unless u wanna spend an extra 600 for a fast, they do look pretty..I had my factory intake cover painted to match my car

If you call around to Lingenfelter/LMR/Hennessey/RedlineMotorsports/SLP etc you can find complete LS3 intake/inj/rail/bolts for $300-350 as take offs from when they install superchargers. Normal market price is $400-450 for them which includes the 42lb/hr injectors so it actually is a great deal overall. ZR1 injectors fit inside as well (56lb/hr) and can be had for around $200 if you find a deal on those. Plenty floating around corvetteforum.com

LS3 intake vs. FAST offering there isn't really much gain and not worth the extra $. My buddy with a stock LS3 intake made 950rwhp on a forged LS3 and GTS76 single turbo and spins it to over 7500rpm. They work

Get a l92 intake and have ported. Will outflow all the aftermarket intakes. Is taller though.
