LS3 heads w/12k miles...Good deal?
Hi guys,
I am building a twin turbo LQ4. From the research I have done, LS3 heads would be a great option. I found a pair of LS3 heads with 12,000 miles off a new camaro. He wants 500?
They are the 823 casting. Any differance from the 821?
Is this a good deal? I have had trouble finding a solid number for a fair price.
Thanks!

You can buy a pair of LSA heads from the CTS-V owners forums with upgraded dual springs for about $1K. They have a better casting with less porosity in the metal. That is what I would do.
That being said plenty of people have made 950rwhp+ with stock LS3 heads and upgraded springs ($300).

For a planned twin turbo build? DON'T THINK SO! Use LSA/LS9 heads LS3 heads are 319 Aluminum waay softer than the 356 series aluminum the LSA/LS9 heads are made from. The LS3 valves are great for NA application, not for forced induction. Buy some LSA heads with only 10 bolts holding heads on the block your already fighting gasket seal get the hardest material you can in a head to help the gaskets seal (unless your planning on low boost turbo set-up?)

brand new LS3 heads are reasonable if you look in the right place.
