Is a 427 ls3 on the aggressive side to much for a 2500 pound car with a t56 on 24" by 9" slicks? It have any chance of hooking?

I'm building a 454 to go in a 2700lb Mustang w/ T56 and 26x10 slicks. 24x9 is pretty small.

What kind of power are you planning to make?

I have no problem hooking in 2nd gear on good 225 street tires (24" tire/T56/3.23). With better tires I doubt there would be an issue in 1st.

Not 100% sure on the hp because the block hugger headers is a limiting factor but I would think 550whp is still doable. If there is just no way it will hook I will just use a ls3 crate with a big cam. Rear gears are 3.55s btw

If it's a drag car on a prepared track 550 shouldn't be a problem. Don't puss out on the motor now, you'll be kicking yourself later.

I'd suggest any bore size you want for cubic inches but stay away from that
four inch crank with a car that light AND a tire that small. My buddies Vette
has the TSP 416 making 570 rwhp and he road races the hell outta it but he
said he has to egg-shell the pedal even with 335 sized Hoosier track tires.
IIWY perhaps consider putting the 3.27" crank from the 4.8 into the LS7
block....pretty sure it makes right about 350 inches. It will make less over-
all power but will make more horsepower per cubic inch. It's much more
efficient because of the reduced piston speed/ring friction. Usable power is
where its at since spinning only marks up the pavement.

I'm already considering building a 440ci for my 2400lb street car. I'm pretty confident that a pair of 225 drag radials would do it. Of course, you're not going to be able to just dump the clutch at any RPM in 1st. But with a little practice you shouldn't have much of a problem getting off the line.

we built a set of headers that fit in the small 240z frame.. might work for you. i can make them in 1-3/4", 1-7/8" or 2"

I really doubt a set of 240 headers would fit. The tolerances are just too tight everywhere. You would end up hacking them up at the least. I'm not familiar with the boss frog subframe but unless it's nearly identical to the V8R frame, it probably wouldn't work either.

I have Toyo RA1 335/30/18's out back and when they are cold I can blow the tires off in 2nd gear at just about any speed. Just mash it and I can blow them away. This is on a 80*+ day with driving around. Once they get some heat in them they hook up pretty good. 1st gear doesn't stand a chance though. I have 3.73's out back. With cold temps 40's/50's I can blow off the tires in 3rd gear at just about any speed. Surface temp plays a big role.

I highly doubt you can hook up a 225 width tire with a 400ci+ built motor.
A Nitto NT-01 275/35/18 can put down the power of a healthy 427/440ci with heat in them. Been there done that.

Running Holley HP EFI on the car. Going to get the Davis Technologies traction control working here very soon. Then will try some 1st gear launches on R-compounds.

Its big money but what about eventually doing a standalone pcm with traction control built in?

Would that require ABS/wheel speed sensors?

A couple of the stand alone systems that I've seen use them? Wouldn't be too hard to install the sensors but I haven't heard of many people running aftermarket traction control systems.

The Davis Technologies unit for the Holley EFI uses a dshaft sensor as stated. Their entry level unit is $500 plus the wheel that goes on the dshaft. Their "self learning" unit is $1K additional.

You gotta pay to play sometimes
