Default please need advice on my header install

Driver side popped in with zero problems, literally. Im on the passenger side and I have only two bolts left to do. I am completely stuck because the line on the base of the Egr is blocking the bolt and I can not move it so I need advice on getting that out of the way, and second the dip stick is blocking a bolt and I cant get it to move so is there a bolt to take it out or what have you experienced people done? oh and on the driver side I broke a sensor by the front of the motor next to the exhaust manifolds so what is that and how bad did I mess up? Thanks Ls1tech people and please go easy on my very first post. Oh its a 98 A4

I also couldn't get the egr out because that same line is blocking the bolt from where it bolts into the header

There should be a bracket with a bolt in it towards the top of the dip stick maybe 6-8 in. down, take the bolt out then you can pull the dip stick tube out

I'm guessing it is the temp sensor, 15 dollar part

That sensor you broke.. Yup that's the temp coolant sensor. I broke mine too and thought "oh it's all good ill just throw tape on it." A year later, it had corroded and broke, causing the ECU to read the engine temp as -35 degrees and the engine to basically freak the **** out when I started it up. Ended up dropping a valve and killing the motor, hence why I have an ls3 now go get it checked out ASAP and make sure it's still good.

thanks for the input. Is the bolt for the dipstick pretty noticeable? and after how does the dipstick go in and out?

Yes you should be able to find the bolt and bracket with little effort, after the bracket is off it is just held in by a o ring with a pretty snug fit

With the sensor just throw a new one in and you should be good, if there is a problem your temp gauge won't work and your cooling fans will probably run constant on high the second you start it, and ya I got rid of that egr ****

How did you take it out? the hose that comes out the bottom is blocking the bolt for where it attaches into the exhaust manifold so I cant unbolt it.

also, should I bolt the headers then do spark plugs or do the plugs first. just not sure if spark plugs would make it more a compact fit if I do those first.

Plugs first is what I did, and I don't really get your egr problem, mine came out smooth with no problem

You need to remove the stock manifold first. That's what my buddy and I did at least

stock manifold is still in yes. I cant take it out because the line that goes from the bottom of the egr into the exhaust manifolds is blocking the manifold bolt and the pipe that extends out of the header to mount the egr has a bolt that is blocked also so my socket cant get it.
