Default Just grabbed an LY6

I already have an aftermarket cam (from an LQ4) for it but that would mean tossing the vvt out in the cold? Anyone care to share their combos with and without boost? It is going in a Chevelle with a 3k stall with a 4l80e behind it. S480 turbo down the line somewhere.

Should I keep it? Is it worth the hassle? Will I have problems down the line with boost.

How much was the cam. Did you have it dynoed before and after installation? What springs does it take? I assume these motors only have vvt right not the dod crap?

Cam kit with pushrods and springs and phaser limiter came out to around 800ish. Did the whole engine build up before I swapped it into the truck so no before and after times or dynos. And yes these engines only have vvt no dod!

I have an LY6 and 4L80e going into my 81 Firebird to get rid of the old 4.4l that's in it now. I'm keeping the vvt and will probably go with a Mast cam and spring kit, plus a 3000-ish stall. I have an LS3 intake as well to keep it tucked under the hood. Other than that, I plan on keeping it stock.

It will be a sweet swap like kainedogg said.

Yeah, planning on it when I get time.

Right now I have the engine on a stand in the garage mocking me... Going to drop the 4l80e off at a trans shop to do a once through to check it out in the spring. Got to replace the output shaft and they said they'd do it for me as part of the check. no charge for the part - they take my 4x4 shaft and give me a 2wd shaft. nice.

The Firebird is my daily driver right now. I am planning to pick up a new vehicle for the wife in July so I can take it over the old one and pull the Firebird off the road and not be super rushed on the swap.

What are you planning for headers? I am thinking of mid length as my chevelle bottomed out the long tubes on speed bumps all the time....

Cheers,

Ds
