Default vacuum pump. when to know when needed

Am curious about installing a vacuum pump on my erl ls2. 436 ci. Ls7 all pro heads. Cr is 12.6ish. When is the best time to use a vacuum pump? What's the pros and cons to them? I don't know much about them but I do know it helps with ring seal and can help engine run better. Is it worth getting one? I have a catch can right now.. but with this new build idk if it will be enough??

Any input is welcome.. personal experience and real world knowledge welcome.. pics etc..that's it for now I think. Thanks

Just finished the install on mine today.

About any engine could use one.

I have $1000.00 in mine and I made the air to oil separator and reused my existing catch can.

Can you post pics? I've read that it will lose hp tho? Is this true? Really wonder if it's worth it.. was it easy to install?

Before/After of a vac pump on a 429 inch ls3. You can see it picks up 25hp up top

Bob at AEI cnc made the bracket that mounts it in place of the a/c comp.
Ati hub that has a pulley behind where the a/c pulley would be.
Moroso pump
star machine regulator

Now that I think about it I have $1250 in it.

I will post some pics later.

If I get 25hp with 12-14 inches I will be very happy.

tim, I would like to see that, I remember the AEI mount was for the older pumps that have the 4 holes on the back, not the current with the collar clamp.

No one else makes a mount that would clear my water lines. Not cheap but fits really well.

GZ Motorsports makes a vacuum pump for Fbody accessories that sits near the passenger side head retaining everything. It's about $850 I believe with everything.

I have one.... yet to install it. An additional 20rwhp sounds great

I went with the GZ Motorsports Vacuum Pump after reading an article about their pump off LSXTV web site. I have 2002 Camaro SS with a ERL LS2 434ci with WCCH All Pro LS7 heads.

4.http://www.lsxtv.com/features/pri-co...-vacuum-pumps/

I have the super pro version of the pump.

I installed one last year and have yet to dyno the car with it. I don't expect much of a HP gain because I don't have looser rings.
The GZ pump is suppose to fit with the stock AC but I ended up removing my cruise control and relocating some of the AC bits to get everything to fit.
