Default Anyone else ever gotten too enthusiastic while porting?

So today I was porting my oem LS1 intake around the tb opening and while trying a few different tools and attachments I found a burr but that worked great. Maybe too great. I ended up taking too much material from the top side of the opening and putting a hole through it. Take a look.

At first I was concerned and thought I'd ruined my intake but then I figured I could take out the plug for the egr and fill that hole and surrounding area with some kinda polyurethane or similar material. I just need to block the hole from the inside.

Anyone else ever taken off too much material? If so what did you use to patch the holes?

Use this...
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRM-8115/
They say you can use heat to cure it but I like to let it sit for 24hrs (the bond seems to be stronger). This stuff is way better than any over the counter two part glue. Be sure to prep the area that this will be applied to with 80 grit sandpaper then clean and apply. You can line the inside of the intake with masking tape to hold the 8115 in place while it cures. Once it is fully cured pull the tape off and sand smooth. Hope this helps.

Thank you I'll give it a try.

Also, I was thinking of removing the cover to the vacuum outlet cover on the left inside of the tb opening so it'd increase flow alittle more. I assume this is ok since there's one on the opposite side without a cover?

I've heard of this and seen pics of it, but never how guys fixed it. I guess the ultimate fix is to go with a LS6 or FAST intake. come to think of it, the only pics I've seen of guys grinding thru their intakes were on LS6 intakes.

My ultimate solution is to buy a Peak ported Fast intake, hope to save the coin or maybe Obama will give me a good govt tax return. dream on. lol

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish there. The stock size opening is barely a hindrance on a ls6 intake. The plenum volume and runners of the ls1 intake are where it's power losses in comparison are.

I plan on porting the runners as well. Just haven't started on them yet. I've never ported this plastic material before so I was trying out different bur bits on the tb opening until I found something that worked well. The dremel and sandpaper roll wasn't making enough progress so I broke out my stuff for metal.
