Default Measure milled amount on installed heads?

When my LS3 heads were milled in 2010, I never received the requested receipt with verification on the chamber cc's or milled amount. What are the easiest methods to determine the milled amount, both with heads installed or heads off?

Do you have access to a stock head or stock headed car for comparison? In theory you could measure from a spot that wouldn't change like the spark plug location or similar to the edge of the deck of the head and then compare to stock and subtract.

I am sure one of the smarter guys on this board knows the right way to do it. If it's off the motor, cc the heads.
