PCV question
I blew up an LQ9 that was swapped into a truck I'm building. I don't know the exact origin of the motor I blew up. I picked up another LQ9 from LKQ that is out of an '04 Escalade. Couple minor differences between the two so I've been swapping the parts around to work.
Question on the PCV valve though... My old blown motor had a rubber gromet on the back firewall area of the driver side valve cover that the PCV valve pushes into. This new one has a metal nipple there. I was thinking maybe the PCV valve was in the intake nipple but I can blow air thru it so I'm thinking it's not there. I don't seem to see a PCV valve anywhere on this engine. It's 100% stock, nothing custom, nothing performance... So my question, is there one? Is it a perminant style deal possibly built into the bottom side of that valve cover? If so, I'm thinking about swapping covers so that I can stick with the servicable one if ever need be. A $4 valve seems better then a whole valve cover if that is what I'm dealing with.
Any info?
I need to return the old engine for core tomorrow so tonight is my last night to swap and raid the old engine of parts and spares...
Thanks,
Khris
For piece of mind, I swapped valve cover setups last night and put the one with the removable/servicable PCV on the engine that I slapped in the truck. Simple and easy... Looking at the non-servicable one, it sure doesn't look to have a PCV built in so if there is one, I have no clue where it's at. I've never claimed to be a motor genius but typically you can walk up to virtually any modern engine on the road and pick out the PCV pretty quickly, this one is a mystery to me.
