Default Electrical questions for a 408 build

I have read through several write ups on stuffing an Iron 408 into a F-body. I have questions pertaining to the electrical side of the swap. I have a lq4 based 408 with ls3 heads and fast 102 intake/tb. As far as the factory harness in the car what all needs to be altered to make the install work? I know a ground strap needs to be relocated and the alternator has some minor alterations that are needed to the bracket but what else am I missing? Can a factory TPS sensor be used with the Fast set up? Will the factory injector harness work with ls3 style injectors? I know I am missing more so if you think of anything that I am please let me know.

Any help/ suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

TPS should be fine(I assume this is DBC TB?) AFAIK but the injectors will need adapters. A set will cost you about $30-$40 and available from most vendors here.

Are your knock sensors still in the valley cover on the 408? Cam sensor in back or front of motor?

Yes I am usinf a DBC tb and what I have found is I will more than likely need injector adapters.

As far as the knock sensors I do not have any as I broke them when tearing down the lq4 so they will be replaced and us the ones that are in the valley cover. Also my understanding of LQ's are that the cam sensor is located under the valley cover and the hole will need plugged if I move it to behind the timing chain cover? I do not have an exact answer on that though as I have not got to that point on the build yet.

O'Reilly or similar also sells a nice replacement harness with grommets for the knock sensors. About $30 and worth it IMO. Plugs right in and gives you a better seal and connector. Also I took some RTV and made about a 1/4" solid ring around the valley cover knock sensor holes so that moisture that ends up on the valley cover wont run in the holes. Seemed to work well for the short time I had it running.

Unless you want easier access to it from the front, it seems like leaving the cam sensor in the LS1-style location will save you from buying the extension harness to get the front LS2+ front sensor location connected. Only about $30 though

I imagine I will be leaving it in the ls1 style location I really just do not want to deal with changing it. I do not see a huge advantage of switching it IMO.

Thanks for the advice on the replacement knock sensor harness seems like a good deal for only 30 bucks.

Yep, NP. Just remember that moisture is your enemy with the LS1-style knock sensors; moisture gets in those holes and rusts them and you start getting check engine light.
