Question Cam Position Sensor (GEN III TO GEN IV)

I have a 02 LS1 car and am building (my first build) a 403 based LS2. I have the block with the Gen IV front cover with the CPS. I know I will need a Gen IV cam sprocket, but with the proper cam sprocket will my computer read the Gen IV cam sprocket? Or is there something else that needs to be done to make this work?

Thanks In Advance

24x reluctor. Gave LPE a call today and their tech support said I'd need the 1x 3 bolt sprocket. Does that sound right?

If you have a 24x ls2, use the 1x cam sprocket and call it good http://juicedmotorsports.com/techinfo_lsx_camgears.html

Default Gen IV cam in Gen III block

Hey guys, i got a LM7 i plan on boosting. I want to get the ls9 cam since it is cheap, other then buying the ls2 front cover, cam sensor, 1x cam sprocket and extension harness, how or will my computer that came with my Gen III 5.3, read the 1x cam sprocket. If anyone that has done this before, give me some info please.

You can buy kits of the front cover/sensor/gasket etc dirt cheap from Summit and LPE etc

eg

http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...3906/overview/

then just add a 1x camwheel for your chosen cam/gear, and wiring changes of course.

Has anyone extended the wiring using plain wires instead of shielded cable? I have an older Holley LS1 harness that I'm converting over to use with 58x sensors and am unsure if there'll be interference with plain wires. I have no access to the shielded wiring and this runs pretty close to my alternator...

There is no requirement for shielding on hall effect signal wires. Plain cable will be just fine.

It will do no harm to shield them correctly, but it is not needed.

Thanks, Stevie. I was concerned because the Holley HP harness has shielded wires for both CAM & CKP. I've got a tech e-mail in to Holley just to see what they say, but most of the CAM extension harnesses I see are all plain wire...
