Question Strange oil flow...

I purchased an Ls7 crate motor for a swap into a Solstice. To reduce wheel spin upon start up, I wanted to reduce the torque the engine produces off idle. So, while still in the crate, I decided to replace the OEM steel (24 lb?) flywheel with a Fidanza, 12 lb., aluminum one.

I have been in this hobby many years and have done my share of clutches, and have NEVER encountered this: To my astonishing surprise, oil began coming out of the flywheel bolt holes after I removed them to free the flywheel. Mostly through the ones closest to the floor.

Is the Ls crankshaft hub drilled through? If so.., is this not a dry sump motor? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the crank is drilled through.

Thanks joyridin'. I have to assume then, that GM filled this motor up high with oil after test starting it, or post finishing assembly. The sump is shallow but well below the crackshaft hub. Still puzzled...
