Default LS3 in a 02 TransAm

I'm trying to take my intake off with the new swap already installed in the car.

It looks like the intake sits really high almost touching the cowl above it.

Plus I noticed I can't put my strut tower bar on it from the motor sitting so high.

Anyone else have this issue? It's on solid mounts with stock k member. Everything else seems to be ok.

No one has had this problem? Trying to get to my knocks under the intake but I can't get the damn intake off.

Edit: LQ9 block. LS3 top end.

Got it by lossening the k-member bolts to give me that 1/4 inch wiggle room.

And boom.

Agreed, also odd that I have no knock sensors either in the valley or on the side of the block.

Anyone know a place here in Houston that has the knock sensor adapter cable? Go run them on the side.

Followed the advice from another thread and cut down and rethreaded the ls1 knock sensors and installed them in their appropriate holes on the side of the block. Now I'm just waiting on the extension cable.

My ls3 swap sat at normal motor height no need to lower anything. Are you sure the motor mounts are installed correctly? Also you can put the sensors in the side of the block but whether or not they ork there is very debateable. The ls1 sensors on the side of the block pick up very little on the side of the block in MOST cases, the sensitivity can be adjusted but they are still innacurate, either they pickup all sorts of false knock or nothing at all in my case. I had mine hooked up but they werent really doing anything. I talked with several tuning shops and others with the swaps and they all said they have the same issue. On an iron block where sound travels less I would imagine they are even less effective.

Solid motor mounts can only go in one way. I removed the top later off of the LS3 intake. Plenty of room now. I also mounted the LS1 style sensors in the side. TSP had so graciously pre drilled the holes. That or they came cast in this block already. Either way I'm just waiting on the extension harness now.

You can try running a 3.8 v6 STB they are taller than the ls1 version and allow for more clearence if you are still having issues
