L92 416 build suggestions
I'm looking into building a L92 416 stroker engine, I've been researching the engine and I'd like it to make over 600HP at the crank with a street-able cam and possibly a set of cnc'd LS3 heads or AFR heads, FAST 102 Intake, 1 7/8' LT headers. I really don't have a budget in mind, but I'm figuring it would take a minimum of $7k to $8k. I've been looking at and considering shortblocks on TMS's site or finding one in a junk yard. I could either put the engine in my T/A or save it for another vehicle like a C5 or C6 vette. Let me know what steps you guys think I should take.

Agreed, I'm expecting just over 600hp with factory 0821 heads on our 416 once completed.
So whats the cost comparison of building a short block with a new or used block as opposed to spending the $4000 to to $5300 on a complete one. Also, as far as forged crank, rods and pistons and how do I figure which brand or style. I beam, H-beam, dished, flat top pistons?

So I've been looking into the costs of building the shortblock starting with a new block. It looks like the costs are about the same or more than purchasing one from a vendor already assembled. My figures were almost $4k for just the block, bearings, and rotating assembly, I haven't even figured machine work. I think it makes much more economic sense to just purchase one now.
