1 wire alternator conversion

Hi guys,
I bought a shiny one wire alternator for my 05 Tahoe motor and its a 4 pin unit. The alternator connector from my ECU is a 2 pin type. I tried ordering a new 2 pin alt, but powermaster sent me another 4 pin type.

I called powermaster tech to see how to convert and the guy said I could just delete the alt pigtail and run it like a one wire system and it would just be putting out 13.8 at all times...

Is this the best way to do this? I saw that speartech sells a 4 pin convertor, but will I need it?

That is what the GMPP computer system does. I have mine set-up that way and it works fine.

I searched but Not sure I know what the GMPP is?
