Default 6.0 iron block...extra hole in block by knock sensor?..help

Anyone know what this hole is for? Just installed the engine and just noticed it. At first thought it was the dip stick hole.
Its not threaded . It's the hole just to the left of the knock sensor threaded hole

The dipstick tube is a tight push fit into the hole. I've never seen a threaded dipstick hole yet.

Gm makes a metal freeze plug type plug for that hole. I have one in my aluminum block.

Whatever you do, it has to be sealed up or the PCV system won't work right.

I think they're in the G8 V8 blocks too since the dipstick is in the oil pan.
