Default Aluminum Long block on conventional engine stand?

So Like most of us I own a non LS based engine stand. I was hoping to mount my new Aluminum LS3 onto it. I see the LS based engine stands on line but you can't rotate those over. Is there an issue with bolting up to a conventional engine stand ( one that bolts to the bell housing location instead of engine mount location in an aluminum app?

sorry in advance if this issue had been covered.

Shouldn't be any problem with using a rotating stand. The LS specific ones are for mounting as it would be in a car. The bolt pattern is the same as all other Chevy blocks, so nothing special there.

On my aluminum block builds, I put a large washer between the stand at each bolt, and the bell housing surface. This keeps the stand from putting indentions into the bellhousing register surface. This becomes a nightmare when setting up your runout on your clutch/bellhousing.
Iron blocks usually don’t get hurt by the stand in this area.

Make sure you use the correct length Metric bolts.

These engines use all metric hardware.

Good Advice! i was going to use washers for sure inside and outside of the stand spiders. I was also using threaded rod instead of bolts to get Max depth with no chance of over driving bolts! Yep Metric. Thanks

yep, no problems at all, washers are sound advice, and threaded rod you can cut to whatever length you need when installed.
