Default What damper to use with 416 LS3?

Hello,

Is stock C6 vette or camaro bamper all I need with 4” stroke 416?
Or do I need something more exotic?

ATI. Your engine will thank you later.

I would use the OEM balancer.

But if I went aftermarket, I would use ATI.

So you took an LS3...Invested time and money into stroking it. I'm sure you have some tasteful internal, head work and a cam....Yet you want to cheap out on probably one of the most vital parts that prevents engine damage? Seriously? Spend the money and get an ATI balancer. What's another $500??

Default ATI Dampener Tech

Hi All, My choice is to fit an ATI Dampener with Key Way, reasons below :

1. The ATI dampener has a Key Way as do my/most Forged Crankshafts.
2. The ATI/most custom dampeners also have a Key Way that allows an Index Position MARK to be placed on the OEM crankshaft.
3. The LS engine DOES NOT HAVE TDC "marked" NEEDED for TDC Timing Verification with a Keyed Dampener Index now simple.
4. The installation of a Belted SC REQUIRES a Dampener/Crankshaft Key Way.
5. The Race Track RULES could require a SFI Dampener.

The other above tech is well given.

I ALWAYS fit an ARP dampener bolt, thread coated with Jet Nut, then Torqued to 400 .ft/.lb.

A 416 LS3 isn't a cheap engine. It would be a no-brainer to go with an ATI dampener after spending all that money on such an engine.

I would use the ATI, having just spent a lot on a longblock myself. A couple hundred extra for an SFI dampener is well worth it.

My 416 got an ATI 10% under dampener.
Never considered anything else.

Had the ATI on the old LS1 with heads & cam, and it definitely revved better with the ATI than the stock set up.

Be sure to ask for 66 durometer rubbers. The ATI 10% underdrive comes with softer rubber that is not sufficient for your engine.
