Default 8 wire to 5 wire MAF

Is it possible with an e78 ecm, to go from an 8 wire MAF to a 5 wire MAF? or would I need to change ecms from an e78 to e38 to make this happen?

Pretty sure the only difference is, the 8-wire has an integrated IAT sensor, while the 5-wire uses a separate IAT.

There are wiring adapters (splitters, basically) available from all sorts of vendors to do this. The Google can help you find them; might even be some of the board sponsors that carry them. I happen to have one from Caspers, they call it a "MAF/IAT breakout".
