Default 5 wire MAF adaptor for LS1 pcm

Hey guys, I’m looking for some help.

Trying to to get my Trans Am off the ground after a few set backs and I’m stumped.

Ive put a Texas Speed 402 motor in the car along with their 100mm MAF. If I remember correctly it is a ls3 style MAF sensor with the intake air temperature built in.

I have been to the dyno twice and run into other issues that kept us from completing the run/tune but my tuner says that my MAF is not reading. The first time he said he could tell it was getting power but no signal, so I looked up a wiring diagram and switched what I assumed were the signal wires for the MAF on the adapter. I left the IAT wires alone.

Second trip rip to the dyno and still no signal. The MAF sensor wasn’t cheap and required quite a bit of hand forming some silicone hose to get everything to fit nicely so I would prefer not to tune the car SD if possible. However at this point I’m just guessing on the pin out and I don’t have a way to verify that any wires I switch are in the correct location and I’d rather have it ready to go than waste my tuners time at the dyno figuring this out.

My tuner says he has seen the problem many times with these adapters and I’m hoping some of you may have had this problem as well and resolved it.

The car is 1.5 hrs away from me so I don’t have any pics of my current pin out to show you guys, so I may be wasting my breath. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Moving to Gen IV External section as I expect we'll get better eyes on the issue there.

Hello Bass,

First - thanks to the mod for moving this for the OP.

Secondly, yes I've had this same exact issue. Not all MAF Adapters are made equally (correctly). I solved this issue by purchasing a different MAF adapter, although I could have easily just switched the pins on my EBAY Adapter. Below, you will see the one I purchased originally, vs the one I actually needed.

First Adapter $15
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079DXCF8N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079DXCF8N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Second Adapter (success): $60

I hope this solves your problem. No, you don't have to buy the $60 one, but I did, and it worked. All you need to do, is have the correct pin out. Your problem is very solvable and is really common. Your tuner should have *easily* been able to do a quick continuity test on the circuit with they key on, engine off - and if he is experienced enough, he would know where there should be continuity, and where there shouldn't. At that point, it's as simple as re-pinning it. It's usually just one wire that is needing to be switched for the MAF Sensor portion.

If you would Rather *NOT* deal with re-pinning, above you will see the adapter which works (Linked).

Thanks,
Andy

Andy thanks so much for your help!

I am comfortable with repinning but I don’t know where to start lol. I’m just guessing which ones go where at this point. I appreciate the link to your adapter that worked, I think I will just buy this and be done with it!

Thanks for all the help!

Wait. So you are telling me that an OLD thread actually helped you fix your problem?

Shut the front door.

Holy ****. Maybe if I respond to everytime someone finds a fix from searching old threads I'll post.

Maybe I can get my post count up to the big boys.
