DOD Delete - Choosing Parts
Camshaft
Lifters
Pushrods
Springs
Is it true? If so, I'll plan to do the timing chain while I'm in. Assuming the above is correct, I would like to do a DOD delete. I am happy with the stock performance. Could someone help me choose a (preferably factory) non-DOD cam? I've heard LS3 is a good choice, but I don't understand what my options are other than just putting another DOD cam in.
Are there any other "Since your in there" parts that should be replaced?
I plan on doing the work myself. Thank you for your time!
Here's the rest:
Summit Cam Change Kit (CMB-09-0029) with front gaskets, seal, o-rings, LS2 chain, balancer bolt, valve cover gaskets
Cam retainer plate (SUM-150106) is a good idea.
Non PCV valley Cover (NAL-12598832)
Lifter/Tray/Bolt kit (SUM-HTLSKIT)
Head bolts (SUM-910211)
Head Gasket (FEL-26191PT) (x2)
Assembly Lube (SUM-943010)
Good 5/16 .080 wall Chromoly Pushrods (SUM-14957400)
A trunnion kit such as the bearing style SME-K-14302 or bushing style SME-K-141560 plus installation tool SME-906011 are options depending on how many miles you have on it. We also offer those fully assembled.
Rather than put a front seal in and risk failure, a lot of folks pick up a new front cover (SUM-G6321) with the seal already installed.
If you wanted to step up the cam a bit, the Summit Level 2 cam kits have the cam, valve cover gaskets, damper bolt, seals, and applicable springs. An example would be the SUM-8715-2-BHV Ghost cam kit for instance, but there's a kit for every cam we make. Then we'd add from the part numbers from above to complete the kit.
Just shoot us a PM and we'll walk through any option you want to explore.
