Default 1/2 starter spacer w McLeod flywheel?

Ls3 block
ls3 starter - Delco 12617229
QuickTime scattersheild
McLeod Billet steel flywheel 168 ring gear 6405507M

starter stout touched flywheel with about 1/2” to go. Do I have the wrong fly wheel or starter or is there a spacer ( not shim) I need for the starter?

That's a 14" flywheel; stock would have been the 12.8".

Seems that it would be easier to just get another starter... maybe from a truck?

They’re all 14” flywheels on ls engines. Contacted mcleod, great cs, who suggested I mount the starter without the bellhousing to see if it’s the fw.

The QuickTime scattersheild needs to be shaved at the top of the backing plate starter hole along with the bellhousing itself.
