Who does rod mod/ls3 intake porting ?

Default Who does rod mod/ls3 intake porting ?

Who's the go-to for a rod modded / ported ls3 intake? Looking to have the TB opening opened up to 102mm aswell if that's a thing.

Done some research . Found a few people/companies.
but looking for first hand experience, pictures etc of the work.

I do. Ive done a bunch of them. I can and have made the tb opening bigger to.

I have a Crawford. He came up with the design. He was way backed up when I sent him mine and I waited months for it. I may be selling it soon.

I gained about 2 mph is worse air. ET stayed roughly the same. I honestly don't have enough data to say one way or the other, but it is a proven performer with tons of other data from others. People usually also install a ported TB at the same time, but my TB was stock. The general consensus, IIRC, is that a Crawford intake manifold and ported TB is worth about 2 tenths and a few MPH. Yes, I plan on something with more RPM capability.

If I may hijack a little, I got a GPI rod modded and ported one for my ss, which already had headers, catback and an aem intake. It had a livernois tune for everything but the gpi and it ran well prior to install. Once I installed the GPI rod modded intake without a calibration update, it threw lean codes. Livernois wouldn't update it because they said it wouldnt need update for the gpi. I even sent them logs that showed it was lean, especially at lower rpm. If I recall, it was around 10% lean at lower rpms and leveled around 3% lean beyond and up to around 4400 rpms, where I was willing to pull it to while knowing it was lean.

so, I swapped back to the stock ls3 intake and it's back to normal. My question is, is that typical of a rod modded and ported intake? If I had added fuel, would it have been right? Or did that indicate something may be wrong with the intake, like a vac leak?

It could be a vacuum leak. My tuner (a very well-known tuner that everyone knows) claimed that a rod mod intake manifold will not require a retune. So, I installed mine without a retune and I have not had any problems and I've been driving it all over the place and even made a few passes at the track.
