LS2 swap exhaust size?
Donor was a '06 GTO.
I swapped in a Summit stage 2 turbo cam and running NA, cam selection based off summit tech suggestion. Also the recommended springs and pushrods.
It's got some ebay shorty headers with 1 5/8 primaries and 2 1/2" collectors.
Taking it to the exhaust shop to get it done saturday, hopefully have it running sunday.
Question is the exhaust shop guy says 2 1/2" duals to a dual in dual out single muffler (due to space) would be fine.
Not sure of the power it'll make but I want to set the rev limiter to 6800 and it'll probably see it. It has a 3600 stall speed converter and 4.10 gears.
Does this sound right or should I step up to 3" duals and two single mufflers? Trying not to do this twice. Thanks in advance.
to answer your question I'd go with a pair of 5 X 8 Magnaflows in either 14", 18" or 24" length depending on how loud you want the truck. My 2000 GMC has limited room also but was able to fit a pair of 3" inlet/outlet 14" Magnaflows. After a year or so when the muffler packing was "broken in" it was a little louder than when they were installed. Added a couple of Vibrant Resonators to quieten it down somewhat more to my liking.
