Detaching accessories?

Detaching accessories? I’m looking at relocating many engine accessories to remote locations due to space constraints. Electric vacuum pump for brakes, electric water pump, electric alternator (just kidding), the only thing I can’t locate for a reasonable price is an electric AC compressor. Bosch has a full system for ~$8K, so that’s right out, but has anyone tried using a an electric Prius compressor? Those are pretty inexpensive and readily available. I’ll be fine if I have to use a standard compressor, but just checking to see if anyone has done anything different.

There was some talk of doing a similar setup in that thread but the thread starter did more research and determined the crazy electrical system needed to make that work would be more trouble than it was worth from a performance standpoint. But, might be worth looking into for your situation.

Thanks for the link. I didn't consider that the voltage would be bumped up...of course they would in a EV, it makes sense. Doesn't look like there are any affordable choices for an aftermarket solution.

Custom mid-engine vehicle with an LS3 that’s pretty much right up against the firewall. Yes, I can fit an AC compressor in the normal location with some work; however, the condenser, evaporator drier, fan/air distribution are all in the front of the vehicle. It would simply be easier, were it reasonably feasible, to relocate everything AC related to the front. It doesn’t appear so, so I’ll just run long lines and use a custom mount bracket.
