Default What is this from? After intake manifold removed

Hi,

I removed the intake manifold today and noticed this rusty coloured stuff on the heads and white coloured stuff under where the intake manifold sits close to the rusty coloured bits.

any ideas what caused this?

Only part of either heads that has this rusty colour ans white coloured stuff.

Looks like water got in there. Rusted the head bolts and caused corrosion on the aluminum valley cover.

What vehicle is this in?

Yes.

Hard to tell from the picture how far back your motor sits but where I put the x in the picture on the cowl, see if that lines up with those two cylinders.

On f- body's it was a issue with water leaking through that area on the cowl and if your intake gaskets were bad it could leak into the motor and next time you went to start it you could possibly hydro lock the motor.

So long story short.... see if the cowl lines up somewhere around those two cylinders. If so you possibly have water leaking down.

Rodent **** will do that too. It's quite corrosive and those critters get in the weirdest places. Did you see any small turds under there?

Lol no , not a flood car.

the seals for the manifold for those particular ports were shot to shithouse.
The car had been sitting for quite a while and the manifold had like these nuts or seeds from palm trees in all the little gaps they could fit in , and yes there was rodent poo amongst it.

I reckon that either when I have used greaser and a high pressure hose to clean it up , it's leaked thru those ports with the bad seals or yeah the rodents have been using it as the local toilet.
