Default LS2 oil pan not flush on the block ?

Rebuilding my LS2 little by little and I’ve gotten down to the oil pan and all that included. My oil pan doesn’t sit flush to the block. It literally rocks as if the pan is warped. Is this normal or do I need a new pan? Or even worse… a new block ?

Check and make sure your main studs aren't holding the pan up. They shouldn't, but you never know.

Apply logic.

Does the pan sit flat on a flat surface?

Yes / no

Yes: look at the short block; studs, the rivets that held in the stock oil pan gasket, the oil pickup...

No: you do the math.
