Break in oil for new GMPP crate LS3
Something about friction modifiers and detergents in synthetic that could slow down the break in. One would think that GM would give the best instructions to minimize warranty claims.... am I missing something??

Maybe the engine has already had it's initial break-in and that's why they're recommending the synthetic oil.
If in doubt, I think it couldn't hurt to use break in oil anyway, something like Joe Gibbs/Driven's BR30
I remember reading a few of the manuals that came with the LSX and LS3 525 crate engines and they were vague on actual break in oil. I doubt that your crate engine has any run time on it either.
Would advise to use a quality non-synthetic oil to break in your new engine.
