Default Rod mod reconsidered

I've been looking at pix of the rod mod for the LS3 intake.

Seems like the rod would act like a dam to the air above it. Something like a 1/2 round or 3/8ths round that would blend in to the wall of the intake would be a lot better.

Has anyone tried this?

I’ve been knocking around the thought of using black plastic rod. Maybe half round, maybe round and machined. Then glued in so no brackets to cause turbulence.

I don't know, but the ported rod mod intake in my Camaro gained me nearly 20 RWHP over stock, so I think it works.

Dunno how hard it is to do but I ran an early one from Rick Crawford he had dyno #s showing it made gains and my 2010 A6 was always a strong performer at the track (heads, cam, gear, converter, rod mod, underdrive, slick, 10.9@125 on pump gas).

Ported Rod Mod was a noticeable gain on my LS3.
