What is on top of this engine

What is on top of this engine I'm not sure where to post this.
This is a powertrain mule for the next gen super vette.
Best I can think of is part of the intercooler, but I dont see where the air gets into it.

It's the intercooler.... water to air. It looks like it has the supercharger under the manifold/cooler similar to the saleen superchargers for the new mustang. As opposed to the supercharger on top of the cooler like the terminator cobras.

what is the advantge of that?
there are several fake "corvette mules" out there. one car magazine made a fake mule and got a bunch of people fooled and they were taking pictures of it. they just randomly stuck crap on this vette and put trash bags over it and drove around.

I really think this is C6 based... The C7 program isn't that deep as of yet. They are saying the SS vette and the LS-9 isn't even ready yet. But, this is looking really like a LS-9 set-up. If only they had the block numbers...

The C7 is probably going to be in production as a 2010 car ... 2011 at the latest...GM wants to get into a 5 year cycle on the Corvette..the LS3 will be in the 2008 model..why whould they not use a current Z06 as a test mule for the power train (LS9) of the SS, blue devil, sting ray or what ever they call the much rumored upcoming super vette..

Well I showed these pictures to my uncle and this is what he told me.
Nick, this is a twin screw roots blower/supercharger!! each impeller is 4" in dia. I was told that it develops over 650hp!!! I was working on the wiring for this setup for a couple of weeks before I went on sick leave.We completed 4 and had 2 more in process.If you are impressed by the motor then you have got to see the front brake rotors they are 20". and have splines for a possible awd setup. I have never seen anything like it on a production vehicle.

I'm not too terribly interested in that engine...I'll never make enough money to own one. I'm more interested in what kinda clutch it'll come with...since the Viper is stepping up to a twin disc, I would assume that GM would do the same. If it'd fit the previous generation engines...probably a pipe dream though.

Thats what I'm thinking also. It looked like that photo was made to mislead people. If nothing else, a cover plate to hide something.

I'm going with the blower theory as you can see the serpentine/pulley for the the blower snout just to the left of the TB. Couple that with the intercooler assembly on top of the motor and a thick belt to control the slippage of the small blower pulley and this will be a nice set-up.
