I wish GM would close in those passages around the head bolt holes. Kind of like the all pros and newer et heads.

If you were at SEMA you might have noticed the 2 prototype heads on display. Early info suggests that there will be 4 to 5 different versions available in the 6 bolt LSX pattern. 2 to 3 will be based on the LS7 Design while the other 2 will be a small and large port version of a race head.

I have tested with a prototype of the small port and can say it is a very nice head. I will be testing a larger version soon. The flow numbers for the large version are very impressive but as we all know we don't race flow benches.

More as the story develops.

I thought the same thing. What are they thinking. I saw people welding ports up almost 3 years ago. The benefits are well known

Robin,

I know quite a few of us dont care about a smaller chamber like the ones posted on the 1st page.
Us FI guys want the larger chambered heads....
Any info on price....?? The $4k price tag on the ETP's is whats holding me back.
Will these be available bare or setup for Solid Roller??

Now the other BIG question.....
When does the Aluminum Version of the LSX Block Come out??

Thanks

Kyle

I talked to the GMPP people at PRI about when the LSX heads would be out and they told me Fall of 08. Is that what other people have heard?

GM had 2 different LSX 6 bolt heads @ PRI. One was a production LS7 head, except with a thicker 6 bolt deck. The other was again a square port, LS7 style, but raised runner,(custom intake needed) with huge exhaust ports that took a specific-to-that-head flange. One GM rep told me summer 08, another told a friend of mine Nov.-Dec. 08 for their release.....

If you looked close you would have also noticed the larger spring pads on the "Street" or LS7 Version.

I have not been able to get a firm date on;

1) Tall Deck Block release date
2) Aluminum Block release date
3) LSX 6 Bolt head release date

Look for the tall deck first (it's close) then the heads. I have seen versions of the heads and tall deck (real parts running on real engines)

I would think that the next step is production. But again that is just a guess.

I have no clue where the pricing will be. We will see that when we have some parts available.

I would love to recomend some other heads but I have had a difficulty getting my hands on suitable products.

I talked with Kurt from W2W and he has some All Pro's that he likes.

I have been looking at the ET C5R heads and hope to test them in the near future. The larger chamber is better suited for our large displacement engines.

I will post when I have any updates.

Thanks

Robin

I was told (at PRI) that the aluminum LSX block was going to be a limited production run (427 units). I hope that was not accurate info. I cant imagine why GM would do that.
