Default L76 or CARB Intake???

Im kinda in a money crunch situation...

Question is....... L76 or Carb intake??? w/ L92 heads...

I can get the whole L76 deal from SDPC for like $600-700... ( manifold, LS2 TB, 40# inj, rails, and LS2 TB adapter harness)

Carb, I would need to get rails, injectors, custom elbow ect...... not too sure about how much $$$$

But I wanna run a solid roller cam, or maby not... cause its gonna cost about $1000 for the shaft mount rockers from T&D...

Can I still achive my goal of low 9's & 145+ MPH traps with an L76 manifold and big hyd roller cam w/ stock rockers??? (Given the suspension is capable of generating the ET)

2001 C5 408ci A4 3.42 gear w/ DP nitrous 300-400 shot & a maximizer progressive controller.

THANKS.....

You can see your hp goals if they're in the low to mid 500's. Otherwise the L76 is going to hurt you. Figure you'll make max power at 6200-6300 rpms.
IMO if the carb intake and elbow are out of your budget then a solid roller will probably be too. You're going to need aftermarket rockers, springs, retainers and machine work to fit the springs.
The addage "go big or go home" applies to stepping up to a solid roller setup especially when considering an appropriate intake to keep up with the L92 heads. Sheet metal manifolds results are less known than carb and L76 manifolds at this point. Hopefully some intake manufacturers will have some hope on this horizon soon.
Still the total cost for a solid roller cam will be pricey compared to hyd. roller setups.

Good luck with your project,

Richard

I have a brand new carb intake for sale for those heads.. was going to use an L92 head setup till I switched to a 6 bolt for the race car. intake hasn't even been bolted on to a motor. Its the one thats already drilled for fuel injectors.
