Default 8 months, $13K...finally at the tuner!

Well it has been a long time coming....but, the cars finally benn dropped off with Ed Wright this morning. It has been the biggest pain in the *** ever but it is all over and I think it will make it even better to get behind the wheel. The wait was due to engine shop issues, mechanic confusion, breaking everything, med school, work, breaking things, new parts, wrong parts, tranny shitting, things not fitting, fitting, then breaking...the way engine swaps usually go. To make it even better, it is my DD and while the car was down, my DD was my gf's 98 red Bug...with leopard seat covers. Yes, I said leopard seat covers. If you saw her, you'd possibly let them slide as well

Anyways, down to the car itself.
The car has an SDPC LS2 402 (Matt is the best customer service oriented individual I've spoken with, I had some issues and he went above and beyond the scope of his job to make things right! SDPC has the best price and service you'll find, call Matt FIRST!),
-L92 heads milled to 63ccs with .040 cometic
- -14cc dished pistons (head swap away from semi-distant boost..)
-236/242 .602/.615 112lsa cam
-l76 intake w/ NW 90mm TB (anyone make 90mm lid?)
-built 4L80e w/ transgo shift kit (although manually shifted w/ console switches due to non-compatible 98pcm
-Vig 3500 stall
-LS7 lifters, injectors and many other random goodies
-Exhaust is currently SLP 1 3/4ths LTs, SLP ORY dumped under the axle but will be replaced with true duals and possibly 1 7/8ths headers, need to read more first.
Compression is only 10.75:1. I know I left power on the table but it is a DD until med school is over so I want to keep drivability there, but after school ...it's time for boost!

Anybody care to guess what the hp/tq will look like? With a pcmforless mail order tune it was still a fast s.o.b., but after Ed's done I'm sure it'll feel completely different. If you care to know, UMI everything will be in the mail next week and I'm hoping with street tires and soft launches my 10k mile gm 10bolt will last till x-mas!

I'll post up the results when I get the car back

Man congrats I know the feeling my 454 LSX is going to the tuner this Friday! Make sure and post the dyno, that setup should be pretty popular!

I'll get pics up as soon as I can, I guess I'll have to wait to hear from the shop tomorrow, no word from them today.
As far as help goes, I had one shop do the motor, one shop do the transmission, one to rewire everything, and one to tune it. However, I answered that to other's who were curious and not for Smok'nz.
Smok'nz, you can screw yourself for always trolling my posts when I was looking for advice on this build by telling people that it was b.s. and I was not building a damn thing. You did not help one bit and actually turned some potentially helpful posts into crap.

You're welcome. Can't wait to see some numbers but don't worry about them too much. It's your car - enjoy. Congrats!!!

Glad to see your plans finally coming to fruition, Mitchell! Don't get too caught up in dyno numbers, that 4L80E and converter were never meant to be dyno queens....but you'll like the results at the track!

A little update. The nightmare continues.

Ed could get the car to idle but was unable to finish tuning it. It would randomly backfire and die on him and he traced it to losing the cam sensor. So, the engine shop that installed the motor in 5x the estimated time and at 3x the estimated cost still managed to screw it up. It is not at one of Ed's buddys shops and he is going to try and get it figured out. We are hoping it will be a $300ish fix, but we all know how easy it is to started adding zero's to the estimated price at engine shops. I will let you all know how it turns out.

Did you check the grounds, especially the one on the rear of the drivers side head? Also confirm that you swapped the A and C wires on the cam sensor adapter harness???? Did your Tach work?

Agreed, check those cam extension harness wires...likely that A and C are backwards. That usually throws a cam sensor input hi/low code (sorry I forgot the number of the code), causes hard start, and misfire condition.

thats exactly what happened on my 402LS2 L92 headed motor. check your wires going to the CPS, my katech extension harness was wired backwards, they wired to go straight to the sensor, but the little mini extension harness on the front cover flip flops 2 wires, and my katech harness wouldnt reach the sensor so i had to swap the 2 wires on the katech harness.

but then everything was perfect, i was pissed when i was called saying they werent getting a signal from the cam sensor and the tach was dead, so i came on here and did a little research and found out what the problem was.

To reply to your lid question in case nobody answered yet...the biggest lid I have found so far is from Fasttoys.com but I would also be interested if anyone knows of a better one.
