Default Convince me to build LS instead of BBC

I need a mill for my 70 chevelle.. original plan was an EFI 540 with an F1R procharger.. now ive been reading about all this LS excitement and it tempts me.

The car is going to be a 65% street 35% strip.. goal is have about 1000 crank hp and run 9's

Plan is to take off the belt or lower boost on street so power is manageable ~ 650 (one fuel curve) and increase boost or put belt on for 1000 hp at track (second fuel curve).

Give me a good argument on why I should build an LS2 or LSx instead of an EFI BBC

hah ya that wuld feel good but im looking for more of a technical argument...

the greatest benefit I see is the weight saving, but is this enuf to offset all the fab of the swap? ... either block can make 1000hp with a procharger...

If any car says bigblock its a 68-71' chevelle.... I like lsx but like, that would be a nasty setup, and you wouldnt need as much psi to do the trick with 540 cubes...

Smart move. You won't have to worry about head gaskets.

Yeah I love my LS1, and its a hell of a street motor, but its still a small block and it doesnt really make a great race engine, or all out street engine (compared to a BBC)

Why do you think the term 427 brings a smile to your face. It ain't no LSX motor in them memorys. Its a 427 BBC with the rectangular ported heads and the factory Holley intake with C427x on the runners. Thats why when they finally got the LSX motors up to 427 cubic inchs everbody said oooo.

I sold my BBC 496, DART Pro 1 heads, nasty roller cammed, that was in my 69 Camaro to build a 6.0L, twin turbo LS type engine. Without the twin turbo's, naturally aspirated, I could have made 80-90% of the power that my 496 made, with a naturally aspirated, L92 head, 6.0L stroked, with milder street manners, less weight, and waaaaaaay better gas mileage. I believe in cubic inches, but I also believe in high horsepower in a more efficent and smaller package.
